N.E.R.D. how cool pt. 3

The Neptunes joined with Shay Haley in 2001 as a side project and formed a group called N.E.R.D. Creatively some producers and artist as well reach a plateau in their career when they have made enough money to express themselves musically. The sound they created if you were to label it would be funk/hip-hop/rock. It may have took the N.E.R.D.S two gold albums to equal the usual platinum touch but the trio were achieving a success that had no boundaries. When you visit  n-e-r-d.com the creative swirl of music colors and water in the core of the site represents one of the most interesting home pages I've ever seen. In 2005 they took a break for 3 years and left Virgin Records signing with Interscope under Star Trak Entertainment, which was founded by Pharrell and Chad. Even though the sound they were known for was machine produced the difference in N.E.R.D. was a live band. They toured with Kanye in 2008 and opened for Rihanna and Lupe Fiasco in the Glow In The Dark Tour. The 2010 album Nothing was the fourth studio album that Pharrell explained to Mark Hoppus in an interview as the feather representing peace and the helmet war. One of the more recent collabos Pharrell has under his belt is working with Gloria Estefan the Queen of Latin Pop. Pharrell was the inspiration for her "Little Miss Havana" album. With all the things going on today these artist express themselves and take you away leaving you with one thought about their music, "beautiful". I guess it is cool to be a nerd because those seem to be the people with longevity in music and business. Quite appropriate when the acronym stands for "No one Ever Really Dies".

If you didn't know, now you know. Peace and Blessings,

  1. I'm not sure where young people got the notion that being smart was not cool but I wish more kids realized that it is cool to be smart and can payoff really big in the end. ie. all the people you mentioned previously. Love the article. I wish everyone would read it.
